Job Title: Area Manager
Position Reports To: Director of Sales
Position Location/Territory: New England
Position Objectives: Working with Director of Sales, this position is responsible for managing a subset of district managers within a region, distributor relationships, and setting pricing and programming for the Portfolio under the tutelage of the Director of Sales.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Distributor and key account management
- Define, manage, and support DM’s relationship with the distributors
- Write and present regular distributor business reviews
- High functioning business intelligence skills and utilization
- Maintain dialogue with and direct the actions of District Managers
- Manage Supplier visits and perform necessary follow-up
- Participate in Distributor Sales Meetings
- Conduct seminars for distributors and consumer groups
- Establish quarterly distributor pricing and programs in conjunction with national parameters
- Establish on and off premise goals for Key Distributors
- Prepare annual Brand and Budget forecast and Distributor Goals
- Review charge backs monthly and communicate with Director of Sales regarding final approvals
- Evaluate and review DM Sales results
- Review programs and/or results with District Managers and distributors
- Manage depletions, shipments, and expenditures to budget guidelines
- Review distributor inventories and orders and respond
- Review Account level data for points of distributions and case performance
- Complete expense reports and approve DM expenses
- Maintain monthly travel calendar for Director of Sales
Additional Skills and/or Educational Background:
- At least 2 years of management experience with a diverse portfolio
- At least 5 years experience in the specialty wine trade holding either a supplier or distributor management position
- Must have held position with multi-state management responsibilities
- Prior retail and/or restaurant experience
- Good general knowledge of wine
- Passion for wine
